YIES SCHOOL
State-Recognised Bilingual School – Ages 3–13
Vedano al Lambro (MB)
Why are more and more families choosing yies?
Bilingualism
At Becoming schools, bilingualism is not just an educational choice: it is a core value. At YIES, it is part of everyday life: of relationships, routines and the very way we learn.
The children grow up in an environment where Italian and English coexist naturally, supported by native-speaking teachers and an integrated teaching approach that uses both languages as tools for communicating, thinking and learning.
STEAM
Through our STEAM programme, we integrate science, technology, design, art and mathematics. We foster observation, creativity, experimentation and design skills.
Through workshops, design challenges and research activities, students learn to observe, experiment, reason and create.
Design thinking helps us find solutions, imagine connections and collaborate.
Outdoor education
At YIES, as in all Becoming Education schools, outdoor education is not just an occasional activity; it is a way of experiencing school.
Nature becomes an extension of the classroom: a living space in which to develop independence, curiosity and awareness.
Scientific research confirms it: children learn best when they can engage with their surroundings.
That is why we choose to encourage children to spend time outdoors every day.
Social Emotional Learning
Through the SEL Workshop, we support children and young people throughout their educational journey, fostering the development of the emotional and social skills needed to feel good about themselves and others.
Recognising emotions, dealing with conflicts, working together, asking for help, and communicating effectively: these are skills that are developed over time through everyday experiences, dialogue and shared reflection.
Teacher training
The quality of a school depends on the quality of its teachers. We believe that training teachers means ensuring, day in, day out, that children receive a high-quality education.
That is why, in Becoming Education schools, training is not a one-off event but an ongoing process that fosters competence, awareness and a caring approach to education.
The Becoming Academy is the dedicated training centre for all teaching staff within the Becoming Education group.
Food education
To grow up as adults who are able to eat well, we need to develop a healthy, curious and joyful relationship with food from an early age.
For us, lunchtime is both an educational and a social experience. Our children are also involved in assessing the quality of the school canteen.
Teachers are trained to guide the children through this process, and throughout the year we focus on understanding the food pyramid and reducing food waste.
Active Learning
At YIES, we don’t just listen: we get things done, we experiment, we build. We use innovative methods to develop complex skills.
Because we want every student to thrive during their school years. And we know that everyone learns in their own way.
That is why our teachers know how to use a variety of teaching approaches: they find the right approach for each student, so that everyone can understand and feel confident.

Frequently asked question
The real strength of YIES lies in its ability to motivate students through educational and teaching strategies that allow them to grow up loving what they do together with their peers and teachers.
Choosing YIES means entering an educational community that puts the uniqueness of every child, their well-being, and a complete learning experience at the center.
The offer includes Preschool (ages 3–6), a 50/50 bilingual nursery school; Primary School (ages 6–11), state-recognised and IB-PYP certified; and Middle School (ages 11–13), a state-recognised bilingual lower secondary school.
This integrated journey successfully leads to achieving key European competences through languages, disciplines, and practical experiences.
Our Primary School follows the IB PYP (Primary Years Programme), for which YIES is certified.
From Grade 3 of Primary School, Spanish is also introduced, enhancing the journey towards advanced multilingualism.
Furthermore, YIES provides welcoming strategies such as peer tutoring to support those coming from non-bilingual or international backgrounds.
You can book a visit or register for Open Days by filling out the contact form on the Visit the Schools page.
